To Air is human

ImageJust returned from the Apple store this evening, and the MacBook Air (pictured on top of the MacBook) really does seem like a great laptop! I was really shocked at how large the touchpad is, and how much it responds like the screen on the iPhone. One thing I did learn from a friend at the store is that it is well worth it to purchase the optional optical drive . He mentioned a Leopard install taking over 3 hours via another computer's optical drive on the network, compared to maybe 45 minutes using the optional drive for the Air. For some fun, check out the teardown photos of the Air over here at MacNN , courtesy of iFixit .

3 hours

3 hours to install sounds like some one has an 80211 b, g, n network.
If at all possible when using the network to install get everything off that is not "n" and make the basestation "n" only and that time should improve.
I would also like to see the Ethernet adaptor via USB trial-led for that purpose.
It would have to be as quick as installation via USB connected Superdrive.
All in all this is where the MacBook Air could use Gigabit.
Cheers Gabe
